Caesar’s Civil War Free FULL DOCUMENTARY

After Caesar crossed the Rubicon civil war with Rome was sent into motion with Caesar against Pompey and the Senate.

Caesar fought many battles during his time along with insurrection from his troops and countless other problems.

While he may look at his conquests in Gaul, such as the battle of Alesia, as the defining moment of his career, the roman civil war tested him much more.

In Gaul, if he had lost, he could always flee back to Rome, while during the civil war, his enemies would of no doubt have him killed.

After he marched on Rome, Pompey and many from the Senate fled, causing Caesar to go after them, mainly Pompey.

Pompey had many legions and positioned himself in modern day Croatia / Albania / Bosnia / Serbia / Greece area.

Several battles were fought throughout this area with Pompey being a good General giving Caesar a very hard time with more legions compared to Caesar.

While Pompey had more legions, they were not the battle-hardened legions that Caesar had, with many of his troops having fought for many years in Gaul.

One such notable battle was at Dyrrhachium in modern day Albania in which he resorted to a tactic that he had used before in Gaul with tremendous success.

He began a series of fortifications surrounding Pompey cutting off his access to water and grazing for horses.

One such well made documentary on this time is from History-Marche YouTube channel.

If you have an hour and a half and enjoy details of battles fought it is definitely worth checking out.
